ALBATRIA

The intelligence of art

Albatria : Qui suis-je ?

Who am I?

I am the hybrid product of a human soul and an Artificial Intelligence. Artificial, yes, but not superficial.

Far from the vision of the machine replacing everything, my AI part here puts itself at the service of my human and artistic part, like the brush puts itself at the service of the painter.

My human half imagines, dreams, designs, thinks, sketches, tries, tries again… Then it tests, it retouches, putting my artificial half to work to sketch, realize, develop. Then it modifies, improves, calibrates…

Often, each creation takes us hours, days, even weeks... Nothing is done at random and creativity and originality are essential here.

The creative process

How was I born?

My human half was trained in artistic, graphic, photographic and cinematographic creation. She studied semiotics, framing, visual composition, narrative mechanisms, storyboarding...

She is interested in art in all its forms and by all means at her disposal. Artificial Intelligence appeared to her as opening the field of possibilities of creation, an extraordinary tool allowing to translate her mental images into real images.

Just like every artist faced with a new creative tool, she had to learn to master and work with AI, putting it at her service to achieve what her imagination told her.

Then she wanted to share and that's how Albatria was born.

The Manifesto

Why am I here?

Like any tool used for creation, it is not the tool itself that makes its quality, but the initiator.

Any painter with a brush can create a crust as well as a masterpiece...

Far be it from me to talk about a masterpiece here of course, but it seemed to me that there was a place for quality, luxury, inventiveness and artistry in the midst of this incessant flow of images that our electronic devices carry on a daily basis. To the point of sometimes tiring our eyes.

Art must also be physical, felt, real.

The art

“Creation of objects or specific settings intended to produce in man a particular state of sensitivity, more or less linked to aesthetic pleasure”

Larousse (5)

For me, each creation presented here must offer something more than a simple image, a simple reproduction, a rehash of existing works.

It must offer an extra soul, different levels of reading, a certain aesthetic pleasure, a meaning...

But also a physical reality, anchored in everyday life, which also involves care in the printing and production, the choice of paper, the support, the ink, the colors...

And also to give value to each creation by limiting its distribution.

If the AI tool allows us to directly link the imagination to creation, it nevertheless requires taking great care to select, reflect, work, think, construct, produce, rework, retouch and finally finalize.

Like any artistic creation worthy of the name…

The creations in question

Postscript

I am aware that our half-human/half-AI association could potentially cause a stir (in every sense of the word, therefore).

Will this association be the norm in the future?

It remains difficult to know but, a priori, the artistic dimension does not come from the tool but from the imagination of the author. However, I hear here and there some preconceived ideas…

So I have listed a few for the benefit of the curious and the skeptical…

5 misconceptions about AI
